Easily one of the best co-op games of the year, It Takes Two is a phenomenal combination of tag team gameplay, outstanding levels, and heartbreaking storytelling in Developer Hazelight's latest effort is a mesmerizing example of why it's one of the best in the business when it comes to co-op games with a heavy emphasis on a gripping narrative, and It Takes Two doesn't disappoint. It's an enjoyable ride through incredibly imaginative worlds, It Takes Two will leave its mark on you by the time the end credits roll, but it'll also remind you that teamwork does make the dream work.

No airspace was off limits, and the opportunity to fly over the Grand Canyon or through Tokyo's vast metropolitan space made for an ambitiously massive aerial sandbox. Microsoft Flight Simulator has continued to expand since it arrived on Xbox Series X S, further refining its world with cutting-edge cloud technology that has turned it into a technical masterpiece for Microsoft's latest console.

There's a unique feeling of bliss that can only be found when you're behind the wheel of a car, and it's a sensation that Forza Horizon 5 excels at delivering with its scenic tour of Mexico. Whether you're soaking up the scenery on a beach drive in a recently restored Volkswagen Beetle or screaming around corners with every cylinder firing in your ridiculously expensive sports car, Forza Horizon 5 is a masterclass in high-octane racing and constantly rewarding you for your efforts.

That serenity is only amplified by the obscene amount of detail that's present in every facet of the game, events that allow you to focus on the racing disciplines that matter most to you, and the numerous personal stories you'll take part in as you get to grips with iconic vehicles from history. A breathtaking refinement of its successful formula, Forza Horizon 5 is an enjoyable ride of adrenaline-charged racing nirvana. Metascore: 92 Read our Forza Horizon 5 review. Hades isn't what you'd call a graphically-demanding game, but it's still one of the best-looking roguelites out there with its vibrant art design and beautifully designed levels that turn the Greek underworld into a scenic pit of damnation.

On Xbox Series X S, the game naturally runs like a dream, never dropping a frame even in the middle of some of the most intense action that it can throw at players. With each run being a rewarding gauntlet of danger, Hades is the kind of game that you'll keep coming back for over and over again.

Its charm and challenge is pure, optimized action bliss. Metascore: 93 Read our Hades review. Beautifully creepy in its design, Little Nightmares II is a jaw-dropping showcase of eerie art design and spooky atmosphere. While its gameplay largely remained the same as the original game, improvements could be found in the formula, and that refinement allowed for a deeper focus on providing an experience that would send a chill down your spine.

You don't see the platforming genre mingle with horror too often, but Little Nightmares II is a thrilling example of how to merge two seemingly disparate ideas and create something that'll haunt you long after you've put your controller down. Who would have thought that a game about the simple task of unpacking boxes could be both so cathartic and heartwarming? Unpacking is a delightful blast of tidy house-keeping bliss and a story told through memories.

Metascore: 74 User Score: 5. Regardless of how you play these games, Ori and the Will of the Wisps is one of the strongest titles on the Xbox platform. I desperately hope that Moon Studios is working on another game. As one of the last bastions of the once-popular 3D platformer genre, Psychonauts on the original Xbox felt like a novel retro idea at the time, but the humor, characters, and unforgettable environment design pushed it into cult-classic status.

For over a decade, gamers have been hoping to see a sequel, and after a long time of showing off sparse footage at industry events, Psychonauts 2 launched in August lives up to those hopes.

Psychonauts is all about diving into the minds of troubled characters and battling their inner demons. Psychonauts 2 remains just as funny as the first entry while also having fairly mature conversations about mental health. A deeper dive into how mental health was explored with care can be found in this excellent piece from Blake Hester of Game Informer. Somehow, the team at developer Double Fine met the astronomical expectations of most fans and in many ways exceeded them.

Key Specs. Westerns are one of the most durable and popular genres of entertainment. There are hundreds of novels and probably just as many shows and movies about revolver-toting bandits trying to rob trains or avoid the law. Red Dead Redemption 2 brings that to video games, putting players in the shoes of one such outlaw, Arthur Morgan, who must survive the dangerous life of a gang member.

This is a game of various systems that come together to create a world that feels lived in; almost any moment can lead to new stories. For instance, Morgan can enter a game of poker at a saloon and potentially get a gun drawn on him, which could lead to a town-wide firefight.

The main story of the game features all of the hallmarks of a great modern Western with movie-quality acting performances in many spots. Framed in a whimsical carnival scene, Rare Replay celebrates decades of games released by the legendary studio Rare, known for games like Banjo-Kazooie , Killer Instinct , Perfect Dark , and more. This collection features 30 games, many with modern options that make them more accessible than ever before.

Unfortunately, games like Goldeneye and the Donkey Kong Country series of games are absent since those were licensed deals, but there are still plenty of games to enjoy here. That said, the collection fits a wide age range, and there really is a game for everyone. Available on Xbox Game Pass.

Sometimes a simple idea executed well is all it takes to make an excellent game. Each class has its own charm and tactical function, and there is a fantastic sense of progression that keeps players downing flagons and pumping insects full of lead. The addictive gameplay is bonded together with hilarious dialogue resulting in just good gaming fun.

The moment I saw Cuphead in motion was unforgettable. During an E3 presentation, for just a few short moments, cartoon characters featuring the rubber-hose animation style of the s bounced around boss fights that were amazingly animated. From that point on, I jumped at any news of this game. When Cuphead was finally released, it was met with lots of praise and notoriety due to its difficulty level. Regardless of how tough it is, Cuphead is one of the coolest run-and-gun games on the Xbox platform.

With a level of casino flair and mischief, Cuphead and Mugman must repay their debts to the Devil by gathering the souls of other beings that presumably owe the demon king something. This leads to a trek across a twisted land of strange cartoonish villains that shape and morph into mind-melting monsters.

Each fight is full of challenges, but the game does have a level of fairness that is hard to argue with.
