My blocks ranged from about 5cm to about 8cm. Now setup a bench sanding rig with your belt sander or use a bench sander if you have one with medium grit sand paper. I had to start by sanding off the finish from a few sides. Once you have your sander going and raw pieces of wood you can get creative.
Try to think a bit ahead of how the game is played at this point. Large flat areas make for much easier stacking but could make the game pretty boring. A lot of little flat areas make the game more challenging but might limit the complexity of structures you can build. Also important are the angles between opposite sides of each piece.
Too parallel and you have just plan old wooden blocks. Too angular and stacking any two blocks can become impossible. I tried to create a mixture of flatter and rounder pieces with flat areas ranging from a couple centimeters to four. Making the "facets" is simply a matter of pressing the block into the belt. Once I had all my facets cut I knocked down all the sharp edges with the belt sander and moved on to the next piece.
Employing some child labour we used fine grained sandpaper to smooth all the edges and surfaces of the piece. Make the most accurate taps that you can early on in the level. While there is a bigger margin for error when the blocks are big, that is when you least want to make an error, because the longer you can keep the blocks big for, the easier it will be to go later and deeper into the level.
Check the high scores in Game Center or Google Play by tapping the bar graph menu. The highest possible score in this game is points, although after the next update or so, it is possible that the maximum score value will be raised, so if you are one of the legends at this game who can top 1, points, then stay tuned for some added challenge. The original stacker arcade game manual is not currently available online. We need to use the Wayback Machine to see it.
The manual has a payout adjustment section. The game changes its difficulty settings based on how much money was spent on it. Once it hits a payout amount it decreases the difficulty to make it more possible to win. The game is rigged against the player when it is not ready to payout by speeding up the block just as it is over the stack. It looks like it is the same speed but you will need inhuman reaction time or luck to hit the major prize line.
There is a chance of winning when the machine is not ready to payout, but that chance is incredibly small. This rigged speeding block trick does not occur once the machine has enough plays to give a major prize. When the blocks travel from side to side, they will go offscreen for a certain amount of time.
This amount of time purposely changes every time it bounces offscreen. The stacker machines do this to throw off your timing. To help with this varied timing, choose one side to stack the blocks, either the right or left. This will give you the most time that the blocks are on screen after the blocks go offscreen.
Stacking in the center makes it harder on you because it gives you the least time to adjust for the tricky bounce back time. Of course you will never know exactly when this time is.
