Page Processor Settings Screen Option Description Node Interleaving If this field is Enabled, memory interleaving is supported Disabled default if a symmetric memory configuration is installed.

Processor Settings Screen Option Description bit Specifies if the processor s support bit extensions. Page Sata Settings Screen Option Description When set to Enabled, the processor s can switch to a Enabled default minimum performance state when idle. C States When set to Enabled, the processor can operate in all Disabled default available power states. Processor X Family- Displays the family and model number of each processor. Model-Stepping A submenu displays the core speed, the amount of cache memory, and the number of cores of the processor s.

If set to Enabled, the operating system is allowed to initialize the timer. To use console redirection by SOL, configure the same port address for console redirection and the serial device.

Page System Security Screen System Security Screen Option Description System Password Displays the current status of the password security feature and allows a new system password assignment and verification. Setup Password Restricts access to the System Setup program by using a setup password.

This option prevents booting to the operating system and results in data loss if the encryption keys cannot be restored. Back up the TPM keys prior to enabling this option. Delete Boot Option Deletes an existing boot option. Change Boot Order Changes the order of the boot option list. When a system password is assigned, System Password is Enabled. If Password Status is Unlocked, you can change the system password. Page 76 6 Either reboot the system now for the password protection to take effect or continue working.

NOTE: Password protection does not take effect until the system reboots. The setting changes to Not Enabled. For more information about setting up the Lifecycle Controller, configuring hardware and firmware, and deploying the operating system, see the Lifecycle Controller documentation on the Dell Support website at support. Hard drives are supplied in hot-swappable drive carriers that fit in the hard-drive bays. CAUTION: Before attempting to remove or install a drive while the system is running, see the documentation for the SAS controller card to ensure that the host adapter is configured correctly to support hot-swap drive removal and installation. See "Removing the Front Bezel" on page When the drive indicators are off, the drive is ready for removal.

The hard-drive carrier handle lifts automatically. Inserting a hard-drive carrier and attempting to lock its handle next to a partially installed carrier can damage the partially installed carrier's shield spring and make it unusable.

See Figure Figure Page 92 7 If you are not adding a new optical drive, install the optical drive insert. See "Closing the System" on page Page Installing An Optical Drive Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. If two power supplies are installed, the second power supply provides hot- swappable, power redundancy.

In redundant mode, the system distributes the power load across both power supplies to maximize efficiency. When a power supply is removed with the system powered on, the full power load is picked up by the remaining power supply. The system may get overheated quickly, resulting in shutdown and loss of data. See step 2 and step 3 of "Sliding the Front-Chassis Assembly" on page Page 99 Figure NOTE: For proper system cooling, make sure that the cables inside the system do not obstruct airflow. CAUTION: To prevent the memory modules from being damaged, ensure that all cables connected to the front-chassis assembly are free of obstructions.
