Seattle tool library hours

Come join us for sustainable community projects, classes, and community events, learning to DIY and have fun doing it! Stop by and check it out! Imagine borrowing a food dehydrator, a ladder, a fishing rod, much like you would borrow a book from SPL. Imagine learning how to fix your broken toaster, building a worm bin, preserving your summer bounty. Enjoy a local community of knowledgeable fixers, tool lending, and workshops at the new Capitol Hill Tool Library. In addition to loaning out tools, we have a great shop space that you can use to work on your projects.

We also have a number of events to share skills and work on projects together. We are accepting donations now, however we are very selective about what we can accept. Feel free to check with us to see if your donation would be a good fit for us.

Browse our inventory online , or just come in. Use your tool and return it clean and when it is due. Some high-demand items may have a shorter checkout period. Inventory accuracy is not guaranteed; please contact us with specific questions or requests.

We do not carry pressure washers, paint sprayers, or gas-powered tools. A little bit of paperwork, a little bit of computer work, and you're in. Though being a member of the tool library is free for all, we do have suggested donations. The West Seattle Tool Library is a non-profit that relies solely on your generous donations to continue and develop our operations. Every dollar counts! Do you have tools that you don't use? Give them new life and donate them to the Tool Library.

We can even repair them. There are many ways to volunteer for the Tool Library. Please contact us if you are interested! This website lets everyone browse our tool collection and, if you are a member, see what tools you have checked out.

Send us an email! Give friends and family a gift they can use all year - a membership to the tool library! Purchase an attractive gift certificate at the tool library or send us an email and we can mail it to a local address with some fascinating literature describing our purpose and hours. Your gift is tax deductible and keeps the doors open at this wonderful community resource.

Or just spread the word to let folks know we're here. Many people have never even heard of the tool library concept and are thrilled when they learn about it. So go ahead - make someone's day! We also have a limited number of t-shirts available - send us an email or ask the staff volunteers for details when you stop by.
